According to the present invention, a method for manufacturing an environment-friendly mulching material utilizes trees damaged by disease and insects, such as trees damaged by Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, and trees infected by oak wilt which are not usually used as timber in Korea. Therefore, unused resources which are difficult to be utilized in Korea are preferentially used. The environment-friendly mulching material is manufactured by thermal processing under the condition that cellulose among timber components of a raw material is not pyrolyzed and hemicellulose is pyrolyzed by supplying a certain heat at temperatures of 150 to 240°；C for 10 to 20 minutes. As a result, by being made of natural materials, the manufactured environment-friendly mulching material does not cause soil pollution, naturally decomposes, and prevents the evaporation of moisture in soil.본 발명에 따른 친환경 멀칭재의 제조방법은 원료로써 국내에서 용재로서 이용이 곤란한 소나무재선충 피해목 또는 참나무시들음병 감염목 등의 병충해 피해목을 적용함으로써 국내에서 처리가 곤란한 미이용 자원 등을 우선적으로 적용하여 150℃ 내지 240℃ 온도에서 10분 내지 20분 동안 일정 열을 가하여 원자재인 목재의 성분 중 셀룰로오스의 열분해를 일으키지 않고 헤미셀룰로오스의 열분해를 일으키는 조건으로 열가공처리하여 제조됨으로써 천연재질로 이루어져 토양오염을 야기하지 않고 자연분해성의 특징을 가지며 토양 내 수분의 증발을 방지하는 친환경 멀칭재가 제조된다.
