A latch mechanism (40) for a surgical instrument (10) includes a lever (41) moveable from an initial position to an actuated position for moving an end effector assembly (100) from a first to a second state. A pin (45) extends from the lever (41). A cantilever spring (47) is operably engaged to the housing (20) of the instrument (10). A pin track member (46) is operably engaged to the cantilever spring (47) at a free end (48) thereof. The pin track member (46) is configured to permit translation of the pin (45) therealong between a first position corresponding to the initial position of the lever (41) and a second position corresponding to the actuated position of the lever (41). The pin (45) is configured to translate from the first to the second position along a first path and from the second position back to the first position along a second path and is configured to be releasably retained in the second position.
