PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charged particle generating device which is capable of efficiently detecting charged particles such as ions generated in a charged particle generator.SOLUTION: A charged particle generating device includes a ventilation passage 3B sending air sent by a fan 4 to an air outlet 8, and a charged particle generator 9B disposed on the upstream side in the direction of ventilation of the ventilation passage 3B, and a charged particle detector 10 which detects charged particles generated in the charged particle generator 9B is disposed on the downstream side in the direction of ventilation. The charged particle detector 10 performs detecting operation in a state where a cover 11 which rotates around the axis 11a of rotation to open and shut the air outlet 8 shuts the air outlet 8. When the charged particle detector 10 performs the detecting operation, the fan 4 performs ventilating operation.
