PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bending operation device capable of preventing degradation of braking force when braking bending with a simple configuration and stabilizing the braking force for braking a pulley drive axis.SOLUTION: The bending operation device 20 for operating a bending part of an endoscope includes: a turning member 25 winding an operation wire 19 connected to the bending part around a circumferential part and pulling or relaxing the operation wire 19 by turning a turning axis 36 for integrally turning with the turning member 25 a ring-shaped braking member 45 arranged turnably on an outer circumference of the turning axis 36 and capable of sliding an inner circumferential surface on an outer circumferential surface of the turning axis 36 by elastic deformation a pressing member 46 operated to change to a first position for operating the turn of the turning axis by elastically deforming inward by giving pressing force to an outer circumferential part of the braking member 45 or to the second position for releasing the pressure to the braking member and an abrasion preventing unit 47 for preventing the abrasion of the braking member 45 and the pressing member 46 during braking of the turning axis 36.
