The present invention relates to a method for preparing a composition comprising an oyster shell extract as an active ingredient for preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases. The method comprises: a pretreatment step in which oyster shells are washed and dried； an oyster shell-crushing step in which the dried oyster shells are crushed to form oyster shell powder； an extract-preparing step in which water, C1-C4 lower alcohol or a mixture thereof is added to the oyster shell powder as an extraction solvent, followed by agitation, and collecting a supernatant to obtain an extract； and a concentration step in which the extract is concentrated. According to the method, the composition comprising an oyster shell extract as an active ingredient for preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases is effective for inhibiting synthesis of fats in the liver and suppressing biosynthesis of triglycerides, and thus reduces the level of fats in the body to provide an effect of preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases and chronic metabolic disorders. In addition, it is possible to prevent environmental pollution by recycling oyster shells that are waste materials of coasts.본 발명에 따른 굴패각 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 심혈관계 질환 예방 및 치료용 조성물의 제조방법은 굴 패각을 세척한 후 건조하는 전처리단계와, 상기 건조된 굴패각을 분쇄하여 굴패각 분말을 형성하는 굴패각 분쇄단계와, 굴패각 분말에 물, 탄소수 1 내지 4의 저급 알코올, 또는 이들의 혼합물인 추출용매를 첨가/교반한 후 생성된 상등액을 취하여 추출물을 취득하는 추출물 취득단계 및 상기 추출물을 농축하는 농축단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이에 따라 제조된 굴패각 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 심혈관계 질환 예방 및 치료용 조성물은 간에서의 지방 합성 및 중성지방의 생합성을 억제하는 효능이 있으며, 따라서 체내 지방 수치를 낮추어 심혈관계 질환 및 만성 대사 질환의 예방 및 치료 효과가 있다. 또한, 연안의 폐기물인 굴패각을 재활용함으로써 환경오염을 방지할 수 있다.
