A capsularhexis electrode device and corresponding insertion tool aredisclosed. A flexible capsulorhexis electrodedevice comprises an elastomeric ring, first and second electrically conductivetraces disposed at a first face of the elastomeric ringand extending concentrically around the elastomeric ring, and first and secondelectrically conductive connectors. The first andsecond electrically conductive connectors are electrically connected to thefirst and second traces, respectively, and are disposed atopposing points across the elastomeric ring from one another. An insertiontool includes first and second stretcher bars with connectorsfor mating to the electrode device. One of the stretcher bars translatesrelative to the other to elongate the flexible electrodedevice for insertion into the anterior chamber of the eye through a smallincision.
