PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding accessory and a system for detecting UV radiation exposure during welding operations.SOLUTION: A welding accessory 12 has a surface 22 exposed to UV radiation generated by an electric welding arc, a first image visible without exposure to the UV radiation, and a second image formed from UV activated dye that is visible only after exposure to UV radiation generated by the electric welding arc. A system includes a UV exposure indicator with a first state and at least a second state, and includes UV activated dye adapted to provide a reversible or persistent visual indication of exposure to UV radiation.
