The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating atopic dermatitis comprising Aristotelia chilensis as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, an Aristotelia chilensis water extract, a natural material, is verified to have excellent antioxidant activity, inhibit an inflammatory response or an edema in an oxazolone-derived subacute dermatitis animal model or a 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB)-derived atopic dermatitis animal model, reduce the number of mast cells, the number of eosinophils, and the IgE level, and effectively act in an immunological mechanism by an increase in INF-γ, a cytokine, involved in immunoregulation and a decrease in IL-4. The Aristotelia chilensis water extract in accordance with the present invention can be usefully applied to a pharmaceutical composition, a health food composition, or a cosmetic composition for preventing or treating atopic dermatitis.본 발명은 마퀴베리를 유효성분으로 함유하는 아토피성 피부염 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 천연물질 소재인 마퀴베리 열수 추출물은 우수한 항산화 활성을 가지며, 옥사졸론 유도 아급성 피부염 동물모델 또는 2,4-디니트로클로로벤젠(2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene； DNCB) 유도 아토피성 피부염 동물모델에서 염증 반응 및 부종을 억제하고, 비만세포의 수, 호산구의 수 및 IgE 수준을 감소시키며, 면역 조절에 관여하는 사이토카인인 INF-γ의 증가 및 IL-4의 감소를 통하여 면역학적 기전에 효과적으로 작용하는 것을 확인함으로써, 본 발명에 따른 마퀴베리 열수 추출물은 아토피성 피부염 예방 또는 치료용 약학 조성물, 건강식품 조성물, 또는 화장료 조성물로 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.
