PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus displaying an image to be easily discriminated between normal tissues and diseased tissues.
SOLUTION: Illuminating light of a plurality of different wavelength bands in a light source for generating illuminating light of a plurality of different wavelength bands and excitation light for exciting fluorescence has such a wavelength characteristic that the resolution S shows the maximum value when the resolution S of an overlap between the distribution of normal tissues and the distribution of diseased tissues is the resolving power S=1-(an overlap part of the distribution of normal tissues and the distribution of diseased tissues)/the whole distribution, based on the intensity distribution characteristic to the wavelength of the reflected light or the fluorescence obtained from a biotissue.
