PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a Scheimpflug type slit lamp microscope caused by a difference in refractive index inside and outside an eye to be inspected. An exemplary embodiment of a slit lamp microscope includes an illumination system and an imaging system. The lighting system projects slit light onto the anterior segment of the eye to be inspected. The photographing system includes an optical system that guides the light from the anterior segment to which the slit light is projected, and an image pickup element that receives the light guided by the optical system on the image pickup surface. The object surface including the focal point of the illumination system displaced by the refractive index of the tissue of the anterior segment of the eye, the main surface of the optical system, and the imaging surface are arranged so as to satisfy the Scheimpflug condition.
