An irrigation device for promoting plant growth includes a mat that is breathable and water permeable and has an opening through which the plant extends. The slit extends from the opening to the periphery to facilitate placing the mat around the plant. The drip tube is located in the mat between the top and bottom surfaces and has an open end that can be connected to a water source, and allows water to exit the drip tube and out through the bottom surface of the mat A series of emitters along its length. The struts may extend through the mat and may pour water on the ground towards the roots of the plant.
