PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a collagen fiber having sufficient mechanical strength.SOLUTION: A method of producing a collagen fiber comprises forming a filamentous collagen by discharging a collagen solution into a coagulation bath through air gaps in a filamentous form so as to cause the collagen solution to undergo elongation flowing immediately before spinning and removing the solvent of the solution.
