PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for planting a mushroom spawn block capable of carrying out operations from boring on a log for mushroom to driving of spawn block automatically and efficiently without a burden to an operator. SOLUTION: An auger 7 of a drill is connected to a spindle 4 attached to a main body frame 1 in such a way that the auger can be relatively rotated but can be freely slid in the axial direction and is moved backward and forward by an air cylinder 8. When the auger 7 bores a log for mushroom and is moved backward, a spawn block inserting element 9 is advanced in a traveling path of the auger 7. The spawn block retained in a guide hole 9a of the inserting element 9 is driven into a hole bored in the log for mushroom by a hammer 12 operating afterward. Consequently an operator only brings a spike plate 1b into contact with the log for mushroom and operates a switch.
