PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair treating agent and a hair treating method which can, on the one hand, improve wave forming power and straightness forming power, and, on the other hand, strengthen hair, in treatment, e.g., before, in the middle of, or after the permanent wave and curly hair straightening treatment of hair.SOLUTION: The hair treating agent includes: the hydrolyzate of the egg white and alkaline ionized water. In the preferable embodiment of the hair treating agent, the hair treating agent is a permanent wave treating agent or a curly hair straightening treating agent.
