PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure each of a processor apparatus and an endoscope apparatus to perform an image inversion process necessary for the other existing apparatus in the processor apparatus and the endoscope apparatus of an endoscope system generating a normal image according to a read-out sequence of pixel signals of a CMOS sensor for displaying the normal image as an endoscopic image to a monitor.SOLUTION: An inserting section distal end of an endoscope is disposed with a CMOS image sensor 54 where the CMOS sensor 58 and a peripheral circuit are formed in one chip. When the image inversion process is required for displaying the normal image when an endoscopic image captured by the CMOS image sensor 54 is displayed to a monitor 38, the processor apparatus 14 allows the CMOS image sensor 54 to perform a process equivalent to the image inversion process according to a command of the read-out sequence of the pixel signals, and the processor apparatus 14 performs no image inversion process in its inside. When an endoscope apparatus that cannot change the read-out sequence of the pixel signals of the CCD sensor and the like is connected thereto, the processor apparatus 14 performs the image inversion process in its inside.
