PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel and useful coloring method which can uniformly color a food product by using a coloring component that enables bright color development, is hard to fade, does not have color unevenness and is not treated as a food additive.SOLUTION: There is provided a coloring method of a food product using metallic ions for a food product as coloring agent and coloring the food product by coloration, the coloring method for including chelator in the coloring agent and complexing the metallic ions eluted by electrolysis to color the food product, and one of the coloring methods for putting a fluid food product in electrolytic solution, eluting the metallic ions and coloring the food product with the metallic ions as they are.EFFECT: Since the metallic ions are used as a coloring component, it can be used as a base color, the component is hard to fade and it is not treated as a food additive, and therefore display of the food additive is not required even if the food product is colored with the coloring component.
