A method for operating a dental CAD apparatus according to one embodiment includes a step of allowing a dental CAD apparatus to obtain dental data having 3D information from teeth including a target tooth damaged； a step of selecting a virtual tooth model to be placed at a target tooth position among pre-stored tooth models； a step of determining the position of the target tooth from the obtained tooth data； a step of determining a predetermined neighboring tooth that needs to extract feature information among the neighboring teeth adjacent to the target tooth according to the determined position of the target tooth, extracting and analyzing the feature information about the determined neighboring tooth, reflecting the analysis result in the selected tooth model, and processing a tooth model； and a step of positioning and displaying the processed tooth model at the target tooth position.
