The present invention relates to a novel Lactobacillus acidophilus YT1 strain (deposit number: KCCM11808P)； and a composition comprising Lactobacillus acidophilus including the novel strain as an effective component for prevention, alleviation, or treatment of menopausal symptoms. The present inventors have established an animal model for menopause by oophorectomy, confirmed changes in the distribution of intestinal microorganisms therefrom, identified and isolated a novel Lactobacillus acidophilus strain among lactic acid bacteria which were significantly decreased in distribution in the menopausal model, and confirmed effects due to the novel strain and previously reported Lactobacillus acidophilus strains, in alleviating menopausal symptoms, such as inhibition of an increase in body fat, inhibition of a loss in bone density, inhibition of an increase in sensitivity to pain, and alleviation of depression. Thus, the composition containing the Lactobacillus acidophilus according to the present invention is expected to be beneficially used for prevention, alleviation, or treatment of menopause.본 발명은 신규한 락토바실러스 아시도필루스(Lactobacillus acidophilus) YT1(수탁번호: KCCM11808P) 균주, 및 상기 신규 균주를 포함한 락토바실러스 아시도필루스를 유효성분으로 포함하는 갱년기의 예방, 개선, 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명자들은 난소적출을 통해 갱년기 동물모델을 정립하고 이로부터 장내 미생물의 분포 변화를 확인하고, 갱년기 모델에서 분포가 유의하게 감소하는 유산균 중에서 신규한 락토바실러스 아시도필루스 균주를 동정 및 분리하였으며, 상기 신규 균주 및 종래 보고된 락토바실러스 아시도필루스 균주에 의한 체지방 증가 억제, 골밀도 감소 억제, 통증의 민감도 증가 억제, 및 우울증 완화 등의 갱년기 증상 개선효과를 확인하였는바, 본 발명에 따른 상기 락토바실러스 아시도필루스를 포함하는 조성물은 갱년기의 예방, 개선, 또는 치료 용도로써 유용하게 이용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
