Disclosed are a brown planthopper and a production method therefor. The method comprises artificially infecting the brown planthopper with Wolbachia. By means of the method, a brown planthopper with a high CI intensity (for example, 65-85%) artificially infected with Wolbachia can be obtained, and the release of male brown planthoppers obtained by means of the method into nature can greatly reduce the generation of brown planthopper offspring, thereby effectively controlling the population quantity of brown planthoppers, so as to achieve effective control over insect damage caused to rice by brown planthoppers.
