The absorbent core (14) contains a water absorbent resin, a non-fibrous water-soluble polymer and a polyhydric alcohol. The water absorbent resin is contained in an amount of from 40% by mass to 95% by mass (inclusive) relative to the absorbent core. The non-fibrous water-soluble polymer is contained in an amount of from 0.1% by mass to 5% by mass (inclusive) relative to the water absorbent resin. The polyhydric alcohol is contained in an amount of from 300% by mass to 1,500% by mass (inclusive) relative to the non-fibrous water-soluble polymer. It is preferable that the non-fibrous water-soluble polymer is composed of one or more compounds selected from among polyvinyl pyrrolidones, polyvinyl butyrals and dextrins.
