PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article for rapidly absorbing and spreading an excreted liquid and eliminating a sense of discomfort due to wetting of a wearing person.SOLUTION: An absorbent 4 is configured of an absorbent core 40 containing an absorbent material. The absorbent core 40 has high basis weight parts 41 containing a relatively large amount of the absorbent material and low basis weight parts 42 containing a relatively small amount of the absorbent material, and the high basis weight parts 41 and the low basis weight parts 42 are alternately formed in predetermined directions. In the absorbent article 1, a groove 7 is formed by integrally recessing a front face sheet 2 and the absorbent core 40. The groove 7 is defined by a bottom wall part 71 and sidewall parts 72 and at least formed of a row of two high basis weight parts 41 and 41 and one low basis weight part 42, the low basis weight part being positioned between the two high basis weight parts that are aligned in the a predetermined direction.
