PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing a purified Lonicera japonica Thunberg product is provided to suppress multiple organ dysfunction syndrome without side effects and to treat serious sepsis and septic shock. CONSTITUTION: A method for making a purified Lonicera japonica Thunberg product comprises: a step of extracting a Lonicera japonica Thunberg sample with extraction solvent； a step of filtering, centrifuging, or a combination thereof to obtain a crude Lonicera japonica Thunberg extract； a step of adding water to the crude extract, adding a non-polar solvent, and graduating； a step of removing non-polar solvent soluble material and collecting residue to obtain a primary purified material； a step of adding purified water to the primary purified material and performing column chromatography using adsorption chromatography or an ion exchange resin； a step of washing with washing solvent selected from purified water, methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, or a mixture thereof to prepare a secondary purified material； and a step of concentrating the secondary purified material by reducing pressure and drying.본 발명은 금은화 정제물을 유효성분으로 하는 중증 패혈증 및 패혈증성 쇼크 치료용 약학 조성물로서, 천연물을 소재로 한 치료제이므로 부작용이 적으면서, 패혈증으로 인한 장기의 손상과 관련된 다장기기능부전증후군 (multiple organ dysfunction syndrome)을 억제하여 사망률을 낮춤으로써 사망률이 높은 중증 패혈증 및 패혈증성 쇼크의 치료에 있어서 기존 패혈증 치료요법과 병용 사용가능한 패혈증 치료제로서 효과적으로 이용될 수 있다.
