NZ 592251 Disclosed is a galactagogue formulation for female mammals, comprising the following ingredients: liquid milk and/or milk powder in the range 1% to 70% (w/w) at least one gastrointestinal tract native bacterium in the range 0.001% to 20% (w/w) Yeast extract in the range 1% to 20% (w/w) a mixture of medicinal plants in the range of 5% to 20% (w/w) and sugar wherein the total sugar content of the formulation is in the range of 20% to 40%. Also disclosed is the use of such a formulation as a medicament for the treatment of abnormally reduced milk production in non-human mammals and in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of abnormally reduced milk production.
