The combination of gabapentin with lysine clonixinate (CLG) makes it possible to relieve neuropathic pain caused both by diabetic neuropathy and by an injury to the nerve. The CLG combination produces a synergy in the antiallodynic effect, when the allodynia has been generated by direct mechanical damage to nervous tissue or when it has been produced as a result of a diabetic pathology. The therapeutic effect of the CLG combination is 3 to 11 times greater than the effect of each of the drugs separately. The CLG combination is safe, because it shows no adverse effects on motor activity or alterations in neurological parameters nor damage to the liver or kidney
