PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil transport device improving workability when performing fixing work for fixing a cylindrical coil to a rack device, and to provide a coil fixing method.SOLUTION: A coil transport device 1 includes: a pair of guide rails 5 of a mounting rack 50 for a cylindrical coil 17 which are attachable/detachable to/from lower parts of both sides of the cylindrical coil 17 mounted on the mounting rack 50 and a pair of movable tools 3L, 3R mounted on each of the guide rails 5, having a raising/falling machine and arm parts raised or fallen by the raising/falling machine and movable on the guide rail 5. The coil transport device 1 lifts the cylindrical coil 17 mounted on the mounting rack 50 by the pair of movable tools 3L, 3R from the lower parts of both sides thereof, and transports the lifted cylindrical coil 17 along the guide rails 5.
