An endoscope comprising a pulley, an insertion portion having a steerable section and a control wire connecting the pulley to the steerable section for controlling movement of the steerable section.A portion of the control wire extends around the pulley, and the endoscope further comprises a cover for controlling slack in the wire. The cover is mounted on the pulley such that it is able to rotate with the pulley.
