The present invention relates to compositions for and methods of retarding hair loss or facilitating hair growth comprising a hair growth active, a C8-C24 alcohol ester of a carboxylic acid and a viscosity modifying agent comprising: a nonionic hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose and a high molecular weight carboxymethyl cellulose at a ratio of the nonionic hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose to the high molecular weight carboxymethyl cellulose of greater than about 1:1.La présente invention concerne des compositions et des procédés permettant de retarder la chute des cheveux ou de favoriser la pousse des cheveux, lesdites compositions comprenant un principe actif favorisant la pousse des cheveux, un ester d'alcool en C8-C24 d'un acide carboxylique et un agent modificateur de viscosité comprenant : une hydroxypropylméthylcellulose non ionique et une carboxyméthylcellulose de poids moléculaire élevé qui sont présentes selon un rapport entre l'hydroxypropylméthylcellulose non ionique et la carboxyméthylcellulose de poids moléculaire élevé supérieur à environ 1 : 1.
