The present invention relates to a stereoselective reduction procedure to obtain, by means of catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation by hydrogen transfer, a compound of formula (I) in which X is S or SO2 and R4 is hydrogen or an SO2NH2 group, from the corresponding ketone precursor, said compound of formula (I) being useful as an intermediate in the preparation of dorzolamide or of the hydrochloride salt thereof.本発明は、立体選択的還元方法であって、水素移動還元による触媒不斉水素化により、対応するケトン前駆体から式（Ｉ）（式中、ＸはＳ又はＳＯ2であり、Ｒ4は水素又はＳＯ2ＮＨ2基である）で表される化合物を得る方法に関する。式（Ｉ）で表される化合物はドルゾラミド又はその塩酸塩の製造の中間体として有用である。
