PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new substrate that enables modification of surface properties relating to antimicrobial properties.SOLUTION: The substrate has a surface that is a layer of an electron donating material selected from the group consisting of silver, copper, and zinc, in amount of from about 0.05 to about 12 μg/cm, characterized in having palladium and gold particles or clusters, in an amount of from about 0.001 to about 8 μg/cm, uniformly distributed on a surface of the electron donating material layer. The substrate is suggested for different uses, such as for modifying the hydrophobicity, protein adsorption, adhesion of bacteria, as well as preventing bacterial transmission and in particular preventing nosocomial infections.【課題】抗微生物特性に関する表面特性を改変することを可能とする新規な基体を提供する。【解決手段】基体は、約0.05~約12μg/cm2の量の、銀、銅および亜鉛からなる群より選択された電子供与材料の層である表面を備え、電子供与材料層の表面上に約0.001~約8μg/cm2の量のパラジウムおよび金の粒子またはクラスターを均一に分布させたものであって、例えば、疎水性、たんぱく質吸着、細菌の付着の改変、並びに細菌感染の予防、特に院内感染の予防に使用される。【選択図】なし
