The invention relates to a self-ligating bracketand wire arch for regulating the position of teeth. The self-ligating bracket comprises a base plate onwhich two retaining wings are formed running parallelto one another and defining an intermediate space inwhich a wire bow may be held. The intermediate spacehas a trapezoidal structure such that the wire bow isalways pushed upward under the elasticity of thebracket by the inclined retaining wings toward theretaining surfaces, such that the wire bow is held inthe intermediate space in an aligned fashion withoutplay. The cross sectional shape of the wire bow isselected such that no surface contact occurs in theintermediate space.
