PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and safely ingestible Lactobacillus that has strong tannase activity and no gallic acid decarboxylase activity, and can suitably colonize in the intestine, and to provide a Lactobacillus composition containing the Lactobacillus, as well as a method for producing plant extract and a low molecular weight polyphenol using the Lactobacillus.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a Lactobacillus that has tannase activity and no gallic acid decarboxylase activity, wherein the Lactobacillus has inulin assimilation.
