PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bone metabolism-improving agent and food and drink for preventing or curing osteoporosis, having excellent osteoblast proliferation- promoting action or osteoblast calcification-promoting action, capable of being routinely taken as food and drink, different from formulations in clinical use and highly safe with remarkably little adverse effects.SOLUTION: The bone metabolism-improving agent contains an osteoblast calcification-promoting ingredient extracted from plants belonging to Boraginaceae Ehretia as an effective ingredient or the bone metabolism- improving agent contains (A) an extract of plants belonging to Boraginaceae Ehretia and (B) an extract of one or more kinds of plants selected from embryo buds of Nelumbo uncifera, leaves of star fruits, leaves and stems of Alpinia speciosa, leaves and stems of Glycyrrhiza, pericarps of Tamarindus indica, leaves of Engelhardtia chrysolepis H.
