PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article that exhibits excellent absorption performance even for an excretion liquid having a relatively high viscosity.SOLUTION: An absorbent article comprises a skin side sheet forming a skin facing surface, a non-skin side sheet forming a non-skin facing surface, and an absorber including an absorbent core 40. The absorbent article has a front part, an excretion part facing part, and a rear part in a longitudinal direction. The absorbent core 40 has a pair of side areas 45, 45 in an excretion part facing part B, and a central area 41 located between the pair of side areas and having a basis weight larger than that of the side area. The central area 41 has a thick area 42 having a thickness larger than each side area 45, and high-density areas 43 located between the thick area 42 and each side area 45 and having a smaller thickness and a higher density as compared with the thick area 42. A plurality of compression parts 6 as a local high density part recessed toward the inner side of the absorbent core in a thickness direction from the skin facing surface side or the non-skin facing surface side are formed in the high-density area 43 with an interval therebetween.
