The purpose of the present invention is to provide an instant food product, containing therein swollen-and-dried rice that can be easily cooked, for which the appropriate amount of hot or cold water can be poured in by enabling, when pouring in hot or cold water, the level of water poured into the container to be visually monitored. This instant food product is a packaged instant food product and can be consumed after simply pouring in hot water or pouring in hot or cold water and then heating the product in a microwave, and is characterized by containing therein swollen-and-dried rice that is submerged in water. With this instant food product, by using the swollen-and-dried rice that is submerged in water, the level of water in the container can be visually monitored. The preferable bulk density of the swollen-and-dried rice that is submerged in water is at least 0.55g/ml. With this instant food product, when cooking it is not necessary to take the dried rice in the container out of the container once in order to cook.
