PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized and lightweight therapeutic element capable of being easily handled and capable of pressing the skin of a person with minimum force and a massaging appliance using the same.SOLUTION: The therapeutic element is composed of an electromagnet 5, a control part 6 to control the excitation of the electromagnet 5, and a pad 2 with a flexible bag body 3 enclosing a magnetic fluid 4 to which a magnetic field is applied by the electromagnet 5. In the therapeutic element 1, the electromagnet 5 is intermittently excited, so that at least the shape of a part of the pad 2 is repeatedly deformed to a swelling shape or returned to the shape before swelling.
