A process for the preparation of 5 - [(R) -2- (5,6-diethyl-indan-2-ylamino) -1-hydroxy-ethyl] -8-hydroxy- (1H) -quinolin-2- salts ona (a) (i) 8-hydroxy- (1H) -quinolin-2-one is reacted with an acylating agent and a Lewis acid to form 5-acetyl-8-hydroxy- (1H) -quinolin-2- ona; or (ii) 8-hydroxy- (1H) -quinolin-2-one with an acylating agent to form 8-acetoxy- (1H) -quinolin-2-one, and treat, in situ, 8-acetoxy- (1H ) -quinolin-2-one with a Lewis acid to form 5-acetyl-8-hydroxy- (1H) -quinolin-2-one; or (iii) 8-acetoxy- (1H) -quinolin-2-one with a Lewis acid to form 5-acetyl-8-hydroxy- (1H) -quinolin-2-one;(b) The 5-ethyl-8-hydroxy - (1H) - quinoline-2-ona prepared in Pasa (a) reacts with a compound, which uses the R-Q formula. The oxygenated (1H) - quinoline-2-ona-5-ethyl-8 alternative solvent, R is a protection group and Q is a discrete group; (c) Oxygen (1H) - quinoline-2-ona-5-ethyl-8 reacts in the presence of oxygen (1H) - quinoline-2-ona-5 (a-haloethyl) - 8-alternative solvent;(d) Oxygen (1H) - quinoline-2-ona 5 (a-haloethyl) - 8 reacts and replaces it with a reducing agent, which forms the basis of oxygen-5 - ((R) - 2-halo-1-hydroxy-ethyl) - (1H) - quinoline-2-ona in the presence of a hand agent, and the hand agent is formula (1) or (2);M is Ru, Rh, IR, Fe, Co or Ni; L is arilo c6-24, or arilo c6-24-alipha C1-10 residue, but can optionally be combined with the polymer; X is hydrogen or halogen; R1 is C1-10, c3-10, c3-10-alipha, C1-10, arilo c6-24-alipha C1-10, or an aperiodic group 4 to 12 members, optionally linked to the polymer; R2 and R3 are phenyl, or R2 and R3, plus the carbon atoms connected to them, to form cyclohexane or cyclohexane;(e) Oxygen-5 - ((R) - 2-halo-1-hydroxy-ethyl) - (1H) - quinoline-2-ona-8 is replaced by a solvent base in the presence of a solvent to form an oxygen-5 - (R) - oxygen-phenyl - (1H) - quinoline-2-ona-8. In formula (3), R is a protective agent; (f) oxygen-5 (R) - oxygen - (1H) - quinine-2-ona-8 (alternative formula)In R, as de
