The present invention relates to a method for prediction of fluid responsiveness of a subject (3) connected to a breathing apparatus (1) capable of providing mechanical ventilation to said subject (3). The method comprises the steps of: -monitoring (S1) at least one parameter indicative of a degree of carbon dioxide elimination, VCO2, of the subject (3) -applying a PEEP maneuver in which a positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) applied to the subject is changed (S2) from a first PEEP level to a second PEEP level, and -predicting (S3) the fluid responsiveness of the subject (3) based on a change in said at least one monitored parameter following said change in PEEP.La présente invention concerne un procédé de prédétermination dune sensibilité fluidique dun sujet (3) branché à un appareil respiratoire (1) permettant de fournir une ventilation mécanique audit sujet (3). Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes consistant à: - contrôler (S1) au moins un paramètre indiquant un degré délimination du dioxyde de carbone, VCO2, du sujet (3) - appliquer une manœuvre PEP dans laquelle une pression expiratoire positive (PEP) appliquée au sujet passe (S2) dun premier niveau PEP à un second niveau PEP, et - prédéterminer (S3) la sensibilité fluidique du sujet (3) sur la base dune modification dudit/desdits paramètre(s) contrôlé(s) après ledit changement de PEP.
