A process is described for manufacturing a hydrophilic and wash durable textile material which exhibits a high antimicrobial efficacy and a high stain release capability. The process comprises an antimicrobial process cycle and a main process cycle, the antimicrobial process cycle being performed before the main process cycle. The antimicrobial process cycle comprises the steps of treating the textile material using an exhaust or padding process, wherein the liquor comprises one or more chemical agents which increase the antimicrobial efficacy of the textile material, and subjecting the treated textile material to a heat treatment. The main process cycle comprises the steps of treating the textile material using an application process such as a knife or screen coating process, a spraying process, an exhaust process, or preferably a padding process, wherein a liquor is applied to the textile which comprises one or more chemical agents which increase the stain release capability of the textile material, and sub
