PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon dioxide-containing food of any kind which can be easily manufactured without requiring dedicated facilities, and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A food including calcium carbonate, gluconodeltalactone, and a water component is sealed and heated at 50°C or higher, so that calcium carbonate and gluconodeltalactone are reacted to generate carbon dioxide. The content of calcium carbonate in the food is 0.46 to 0.92 mass%. The content of gluconodeltalactone in the food is 20/7 times the amount of calcium carbonate or more. The food has a solid portion and a liquid or gelatinous portion. For example, the solid portion is made from fruit, vegetable, or egg/meat, and the liquid or gelatinous portion is made from jelly, fruit juice, or water. The liquid or gelatinous portion of the produced carbon dioxide-containing food has a pH of 6.0 or lower.
