The invention relates to a non-toxic composition prepared from agricultural waste, which includes the steps of: a) hydrolysing the plant matter in acidic conditions b) nitrating the released phenolic compounds c) stimulating the coupling between the phenolic compounds which are nitrated or not d) insolubilising and separating the coupled compounds and e) drying the precipitated insoluble solids. The resulting composition has phytoregulating properties due to which the application thereof to plants induces favourable metabolic and physiological changes which promote increases in the mass of the roots and the exudate, in the foliar area and mass, in the photosynthetic capacity, in the resistance to biotic factors, in the tolerance to abiotic stress factors and/or in the productivity of the crops.La presente invención describe una composición no tóxica, preparada a partir de residuos agrícolas que incluye los pasos de: a) hidrolizar en condiciones ácidas el material vegetal b) nitrar los compuestos fenólicos liberados c) propiciar el acoplamiento entre los compuestos fenólicos nitrados o no d) insolubilizar y separar los compuestos acoplados e) secar los sólidos insolubles precipitados. La composición resultante tiene propiedades fitorreguladoras por lo que su aplicación en las plantas induce cambios metabólicos y fisiológicos favorables que promueven incrementos en la masa de las raíces y la exudación, en la masa y área foliar, en la capacidad fotosintética, en la resistencia a factores bióticos, en la tolerancia a factores abióticos de estrés y/o en la productividad de los cultivos.
