A computer implemented method for tracking a site in a series of images, the method comprising identifying a site to be tracked； selecting at least three non- collinear locations distributed around the sire in the reference image； selecting, from the reference image, a region of image data around each of the at least three non collinear locations； comparing each selected region with a second image and, based on these comparisons, identifying for each selected region a corresponding location in the second image, determining a single common affine transformation to map the at least three locations from the reference image onto the corresponding locations in the second image.L'invention porte sur un procédé mis en œuvre par ordinateur qui permet de suivre un site dans une série d'images, lequel procédé consiste : à identifier un site à suivre ； à sélectionner au moins trois emplacements non colinéaires distribués autour du site dans l'image de référence ； à sélectionner sur l'image de référence une région de données images autour de chacun des au moins trois emplacements non colinéaires ； à comparer chacune des régions sélectionnées à une seconde image et, sur la base des comparaisons, à identifier pour chaque région sélectionnée un emplacement correspondant sur la seconde image, en déterminant une seule transformation affine commune pour mettre en correspondance les au moins trois emplacements de l'image de référence avec les emplacements correspondants sur la seconde image.
