PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retort sterilizer having high energy consumption efficiency by avoiding heat diffusion to the outside thereof during heating, and has good temperature distribution therein to improve sterilization efficiency and avoid food deterioration.SOLUTION: A simple retort sterilizer 100 includes: a container 110 that is closed at its bottom and opens at its top in the same manner as a pot container a lid 120 that covers and seals an opening side of the container and holding tools 121 that hold the container and the lid. The container is partitioned, by a steam plate 130 allowing steam passage, into a water storage part 112 on a bottom 111 side of the container and a pack storage space 113 located above the steam plate and placing a food pack 180 or a pack holder 190 holding the food pack.
