PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generation method in which even when there is a missing portion in a lattice, the artifacts caused by the missing portion in a reconstructed image can be corrected to display a high-quality image suitable for diagnosis.SOLUTION: An image generation method corrects artifacts caused by a missing portion in a reconstructed image in a scanning type Talbot apparatus 1. In the image generation method, image signals are read by an X-ray detector 16 at each move with a predetermined amount of move P1 in first relative positional relationships of plural lattices to generate n moire images of a first group, a drive unit 150 is then actuated to take second relative positional relationships of plural lattices different from the first relative positional relationships, again image signals are read by the X-ray detector 16 at each move with the predetermined amount of move P1 to generate n moire images of a second group, and a reconstructed image is generated by a controller 5 on the basis of the n moire images of the first group and the n moire images of the second group.
