A pharmaceutical composition is disclosed, which can be used to activate the expression of peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) or decrease blood glucose. The main component of the pharmaceutical composition of the present invention is Toona sinensis extracts, which comprise: 40 to 75 parts by weight of gallic acid, 15 to 40 parts by weight of ethyl gallate, and 10 to 30 parts by weight of methyl gallate. In addition, according to the present invention, the Toona sinensis extracts, which is prepared by a water/ethanol extraction process, can be used to increase the gene and protein expression of PPARγ, and control the blood glucose level of mice.本發明係有關於一種適用於活化PPARγ表現或降低血糖之醫藥組成物,主要以香椿萃取物為主,活化PPARγ表現或降低血糖之醫藥組成物或香椿萃取物係包含40至75重量份之沒食子酸;15至40重量份之沒食子酸乙酯;以及10至30重量份之沒食子酸甲酯。此外,本發明之利用水醇萃取法萃取之香椿萃取物,其提升PPARγ基因與蛋白質表現顯著,對小鼠血糖亦具良好控制。
