Provided is a bone graft substitute production method comprising: a tooth grinding step in which cleaned teeth are ground into a powder so as to produce a tooth powder an impurity elimination step involving the elimination from the tooth powder of one or more of fatty materials and inorganic materials and the water fraction, the water fraction in the tooth powder being eliminated either by drying the tooth powder or by using ethyl alcohol, the fats being eliminated from the tooth powder by using an organic solvent, and the inorganic materials being eliminated by using nitric acid solution or one or more agent selected from the group consisting of hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, sulphuric acid and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and a post-processing step in which, after the impurity elimination step, there is additional fat elimination from the tooth powder and cleaning or else the tooth powder is freeze dried or else sterilized.
