A cleansing composition comprising the following components (A), (B), (C), (D) and (E): (A) a C12-22 fatty acid or a salt thereof, (B) an anionic surfactant having a carboxylic acid or a salt thereof in a hydrophilic group, excluding the component (A), (C) an amphoteric surfactant, (D) a polyhydric alcohol having an IOB value of 0.8 to 4, or a mixture of a polyhydric alcohol having an IOB value of 0.8 to 4 and a monoalcohol having three or less carbon atoms, and (E) water wherein the total content of the component (A) and the component (B), (A)+(B), in terms of acid compounds (by mass) is from 35 to 60% by mass, the mass ratio of the content of the component (B) to the total content of the component (A) and the component (B), (B)/[(A)+(B)], is from 0.06 to 0.65, the content of the component (C) is from 1.5 to 15% by mass, and the content of the component (D) is from 6 to 18% by mass.本發明之洗淨劑組成物係含有以下成分(A)、(B)、(C)、(D)及(E)者,(A)碳數12~22之脂肪酸或其鹽、(B)除成分(A)以外於親水基上具有羧酸或其鹽之陰離子性界面活性劑、(C)兩性界面活性劑、(D)IOB值為0.8~4之多元醇、或IOB值為0.8~4之多元醇與碳數3以下之單醇之混合物、(E)水,並且以作為酸之換算質量計,成分(A)與成分(B)之含量之合計為(A)+(B)=35質量%以上且60質量%以下,成分(B)之含量、與成分(A)和成分(B)之含量之合計的質量比為(B)/[(A)+(B)]=0.06以上且0.65以下,成分(C)之含量為1.5質量%以上且15質量%以下,成分(D)之含量為6質量%以上且18質量%以下。
