PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle accelerator capable of reducing an operation time for providing a required irradiation amount, and effective for improvement of utilization efficiency and reduction of irradiation cost of a charged particle beam; its operation method; and a particle beam irradiation therapy device equipped with the particle accelerator.SOLUTION: Multiple times of extraction cycles each executing, after an entering process of entering charged particles in to a synchrotron, an acceleration or deceleration process of accelerating or decelerating the charged particles to predetermined energy in a high-frequency acceleration cavity while revolving them on an orbit in the synchrotron, and an emission process of emitting the accelerated charged particles from the synchrotron are executed to accelerate the charged particles to energy values different from one another in the respective processes; and the charged particles accelerated to the energy values different from one another are emitted in the emission processes in the extraction cycles of the acceleration or deceleration processes.COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT【課題】必要な照射量を得るための運転時間が短縮され、利用効率の向上、荷電粒子ビームの照射コストの低減に有効な粒子加速器およびその運転方法、ならびにこの粒子加速器を備える粒子線照射治療装置の提供。【解決手段】荷電粒子をシンクロトロンに入射させる入射工程入射工程の後、荷電粒子をシンクロトロン内の周回軌道を周回させながら高周波加速空胴で所定のエネルギーまで加速または減速する加速または減速工程と、加速された荷電粒子をシンクロトロンから出射する出射工程とを行う取出しサイクルを複数回行い、各加速工程で荷電粒子を異なるエネルギーに加速し、加速または減速工程の取出しサイクルにおける出射工程で異なるエネルギーに加速された荷電粒子を出射する。【選択図】図2
