PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ascorbic acid-derived composition which comprises a compound or a mixture of not less than two compounds obtained by a reaction using ascorbic acid as a raw material, is storage-stable for a long period of time, and excellent in feel of use, whitening effect, and collagen production promotion effect, a method for preparing the composition, and a cosmetic compounded with the composition.SOLUTION: An ascorbic acid-derived composition comprises (B) a reaction product obtained by reacting (A) an ascorbic acid modified product such as (a) a reaction product of ascorbic acid and glycidol and the like with a low molecular compound having a primary amino group. A method for easily and inexpensively preparing the composition is described.
