PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish safety during attachment of a walking assistance device for assisting walking.SOLUTION: A walking assistance device, which is attached to a users leg and which assists the users walking by applying an assist force, includes a holding unit which comprises an operation instruction means capable of providing instructions on at least either a hold-up operation or a hold-down operation, and a braking unit which can change a braking state of an ankle.
