PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a long body for medical use, with which the long body for medical use can be easily and quickly manufactured with high yield.SOLUTION: An electrolytic solution 41 and an insulating liquid 42 having insulation property and has a specific gravity larger than that of the electrolytic solution 41 are stored in the electrolytic cell 11 of an electrochemical machining apparatus 10 where the solution and the insulating liquid are separated from each other. A pre-machining long body 32 is set in the electrochemical machining apparatus 10 such that a portion for performing the electrochemical machining of the pre-machining long body 32 is immersed in the electrolytic solution 41 in the electrolytic cell 11 and a portion not performing the electrochemical machining of the pre-machining long body 32, which is located closer to the end side compared with the portion for performing the electrochemical machining, is immersed in the insulating liquid 42. The electrochemical machining is performed by energizing the electrolytic solution 41 with a reinforcing body layer 5 as an anode and with an electrode 17 as a cathode. Consequently, the portion of the reinforcing body layer 5 immersed in the electrolytic solution 41 is removed by the electrochemical machining, and the electrochemical machining is not performed in the portion of the pre-machining long body 32 immersed in the insulating liquid 42.COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT【課題】歩留まりが高く、容易かつ迅速に、医療用長尺体を製造することができる医療用長尺体の製造方法を提供すること。【解決手段】電解加工装置10の電解槽11内には、電解液41とその電解液41よりも比重が大きい絶縁性を有する絶縁性液体42とが互いに分離した状態で貯留されている。加工前長尺体32の電解加工を行う部位が、電解槽11内の電解液41に浸漬し、その電解加工を行う部位より先端側の加工前長尺体32の電解加工を行わない部位が、絶縁性液体42に浸漬するように、加工前長尺体32を電解加工装置10にセットする。補強体層5を陽極、電極17を陰極として電解液41に通電し、電解加工を行なう。これにより、補強体層5の電解液41に浸漬している部位は、電解加工により除去され、加工前長尺体32の絶縁性液体42に浸漬している部位は、電解加工は行われない。【選択図】図4
